New Paltz Women in Black Standing for Peace Every Saturday for over Seven Years!
Please join us any Saturday from 12:30-1:30PM, in front of the Elting Library in New Paltz! (Men are welcome to stand in solidarity)
We look to 2009 with hope in our hearts that we may not only end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan but, “end the mindset that leads to war” as President Obama has said.
Bring Our Troops Home!
Stop the aerial bombing that is killing innocent civilians, stop the wounding and killing of our young soldiers. Even our generals concede there is no military solution in Iraq or Afghanistan. Bring our troops home and give our veterans the physical and mental health care and benefits they deserve. Pay reparations and use the billions spent on war to rebuild our country; investing in education, health care, jobs, housing, infrastructure and a new, green energy economy.
We believe that President Obama needs an engaged citizenry behind him- fighting the special interests of big oil, the war profiteers, the financial elite and all who put profits before the benefit of the people and the planet.
New Paltz Women in Black is calling to:
Close Guantanamo
Repudiate Torture
Hold Bush Administration Officials Accountable
Stop Warrantless Spying on Americans
Invest in Health Care, Not Warfare
Implement a New, Green Deal
To create millions of jobs and to save our planet from global warming
Stop Foreclosures and Stop All Predatory Lending
Bail Out Main Street, Not Wall Street
Demand an Investigation and Accountability
for how our tax dollars were spent in Bush’s TARP program
We believe that a world based on justice, that recognizes the inherent worth of every person is the only foundation for building a safer, saner, more peaceful and loving world.
